Mezvaraa (English: Verdant, Westland: Mezvarheim, no official designation given by Earth's space agencies) is a temperate planet currently located in the northern part of the Galaxy.

Overview[]

The third planet of the Kha System, it has two natural satellites, Venno Majoris, orbited by its own natural satellite, Venno Minoris. The landscape consists of 60% landmasses and 40% waters, housing 11 billion Mezvaraans (abbreviated as Mez) (mezvaranis sapiens) and roughly 4 billion Sumarians (sumaria mezvaranis sapiens), the native races which inhabit the planet. Currently, this planet is suffering a planetwide scale military conflict perpetrated by the Holy Mazenovich Empire and its sister state, Eastern Mazenovich Empire, who have waged a global - and system-wide - conquest. This conflict has led to approximately 500 million Mezvaraans to evacuate into parts unknown.

History[]

The history of the Mezvaraa - and thus the Mezvaraans, can be traced back to millions of years ago, when the young world begun to to bloom with life, and thus the Proto-Mezvaraans (mezvaraanis nobilis) appeared. Blessed with their large cerebral capacity, within the timespan of 650 thousand years, the Proto-Mez quickly rose into an advanced civilization. People prospered, everything in the scientific fields had been achieved, they even successfully reached the outer space. But then came the difficult time. Wars waged almost daily, every state begun to fight its neighbours, and terrible weapons were created. At this point, the innocents tried to save themselves by burrowing their homes underneath Mezvaraa's crust, creating a brand new ecosystem just to survive. Alas, the worst thing happened. A dormant supervolcano erupted, wiping out the survivors of the scorched surface, scarred by kinetic, chemical and thermonuclear devices. It was as if their deities decided they had had enough enough with their follies. Thus, the surface was gone, clouded by millennia-long winters and toxic gushes of wind, while the 'blessed' survivors devolved into hunter-gatherers once again. Many used different methods to keep their race's existence, from reasonable options to pretty radical ideas, among others. Living in these harsh conditions, with a dimly lit environment and no sunlight, and the arid air conditions, their bodies began to change. Their already flat noses shrinking in size, to filter the oxygen, their eyes became larger, to see things more easily, and most importantly, their skins began to lose their colors, as a result of lack of natural light for hundreds of thousand of years. They almost lost the hairs on their body saves on their heads and eyebrows. These will be known to be the main physical traits of the modern Mezvaraans we know today. The chronicle of Mez stayed that way for 750 thousand years, until a calamity cracked the sealed surfaces of the world, giving the Mezvaraans the real sunlight once again, and thus piquing the interest of the curious tribesmen. What they saw was a recovered world, a beautiful, verdant landscape. Life had returned to Mezvaraa at last. The Mezvaraans decided to live on the surface once more, thus ending the terrible time they've endured.

Better Time[]

Now living on the surface again, tribal communes growing into kingdoms, others decided to live a nomadic style. When they stepped into the outside, alongside the verdant scapes, they also saw gigantic entities who visited the 'empty world', and consequently cracked the surfaces, and thus encouraged the Mez to look outside. Those entities were to be called 'Angels'. The angels decided to reeducate the tribes, such as using their weapons, which turned into glowing shards scattered all over the world, basic survival skills and everything they needed to know to survive in this brave new world. And after a period of time, those angels left, as they knew the recovered species could sustain themselves from now on. Despite the Mez having recovered, their knowledges were not. Some of the Proto-Mez's achievements were forever burned in thermonuclear heat, some of them buried deep down below, not to be reached and not to be studied, as their languages were lost forever. Thus the Mez needed to start over again. The war left significant dents on the surface, even those blooming plantations couldn't fully recover from those scars. Steel scraps and crumbling buildings were scattered everywhere. The debris were used by the Mez as weapons: spearheads, makeshift daggers, arrow tips, and more. Their brains remained unchanged, unlike their skins. Now, they were all ready to embrace a new page of their history.

Sumarians[]

Long ago, there was an omnipowerful being known as Sumara, the Allmother. For eons her homeworld prospered, only shortly they barely escaped an unknown spatial and chronological anomaly, and escaped the whole world among its inhabitant in a small pocket dimension. Overtime, she wandered across the galaxy to find a suitable world. She found one, lush and beautiful habitable world, but there was one thing that concerned her. There are lots of ruins that indicated that this world used to be inhabited before. Nevertheless, she decided to 'transplant' her homeworld to this particular new planet, with a continent added to the near shores of the west of the world. That new continent would be known as 'Sumaria', the permanent beacon and bridge between the two realms.

From there Sumara led her people, the Sumarians to inhabit this new world. Then one unexpected thing happened. She found scattered communites of survivor of whatever struck this planet before. These pale-skinned, big headed humanoids were on awe and worry after witnessing Sumara and her people's presence. The two races looked at eachother with suspicion. Before anything bad happens, Allmother decided to talk telepathically with these survivors. After a long time of psychic debates and discussion, they all agreed and decided to live together. The new Mezvaraans agreed that they would be able to procreate with the beastfolks. Sumara was relieved and immediately modified the genes of the new Mez so they can live and make love with the Sumarians. And thus Allmother returned to her homeworld, to fix things up there, knowing that her people in Mez would have an easier life there.

The First Age of Terror[]

This time, the Mez has developed their civilizations into something akin to Earth's Classical Age and Medieval Age. Several big kingdoms across the world. Technology and cultures expanded significantly, more knowledges gained and great monuments erected across the world.. On 1280 CA, the planet was plagued by a global scale conflict, the biggest since the last one. Stuhar Khan, 'The Mad King' and his Arch-Minister Vadim Metraek of the Southern Khanate from Westland Continent invaded the rest of the world, including the new Mecharvar Kingdom. through the dangerous Eastern Shores, and almost succeded, until they two were assassinated by Mecharvar Warriors. The Khanate crumbled immediately without leaders, and those who tried to reignite the flame once more were quickly dispatched. Everything came back to normal until some centuries later.

The Void Century[]

Modern scholars couldn't fully determined what happened in the event only known as 'Void Century'. It is estimated that this event happened in 1440 CA. All they discovered were some semi-deciphered parchments, roughly detailing 'Something' that almost wiped the civilization once again. According to the parchment, that 'something' were resisted -and driven off- by 'untold sacrifices' of Mez. By the description, that 'something' is roughly determined to be a humanoid figures that 'walked the east to west and lay waste to any settlements it found'. The rest of its description is currently undeciphered. Attempts to decipher the rest of the parchment is still in progress.

Space Age[]

This age marked the 'rediscovery' of space travel. On 1990 CA, the Siegland Collective Republic launched 'Sputnik-A', an artificial satellite. This event sent spectacular shocks across the world of Mez. Other wealthy nations decided to race against eachother in what now called 'the Space Race'. 2015 CA was one of the most remembered time in Mez history, as the Mechvaraan National Aerospace Agency successfully launched two people on the moon of Venno Majoris. This event in history has triggered the chain of effects that the technology of Mez gradually becoming more advanced. In 2056 CA, the Mechvaraan-Siegland Joint Aerospace Mission managed to send several people to the neighbouring world, Yamuko. At the same time, more marvelous technologies had been developed, like anti-grav engines and energy-based appliances.

The Second Age of Terror[]

In 2082, the Siegland Union suffered a massive civil war between itself, causing a new state, the Mazenovich Empire, being founded by the ashes of Siegland. The Mazenovichs trumped the Sieglanders by numerous technological and military advantages, and 'conquered' the collapsed neighbor, the Alexandrian Kingdom. From there, unexpectedly and in shock from everyone, the Mazenovichs decided to invade the Republic of Mechvaraa in a sudden attacks on the both sides of the borders. The 'official' reason for the war is to gather the Republic's resources in lieu of resource crisis, though some conspiracy theorists suggest that there are far more sinister reasons behind this war.

Geographical Information[]

As explained in the information box above, the planet is covered in various biomes, the most prominent are vast forests and grasslands, followed by deserts and taigas. Smaller biomes are also present. The planet's geography vaguely resembles Earth with several notable landmasses missing. As for the atmospheric conditions, the air is breathable by most of oxygen-breathing carbon-based lifeforms. The unique geographical features of the planet are the abundance of lakes covering the continents, the largest is Kanamis Ocean, suspected to be a dead remain of a gigantic supervolcano that was erupted during the planet's infancy. Other lakes are formed either by natural tectonic movements or external forces such as meteorite strikes.

The world of Mez geographically split into three parts; Ostland, or Temarastan, which includes the prosperous Republic of Mechvaraa and the surrounding nations, Midland, or Uskaria, which includes the now-defunct Alexandrian Kingdom, now the Eastern Mazenovich Empire and the surrounding states, also the Northrop Federation, and lastly, the Westland, which includes the Sublime Mazenovich Empire and the rump state of Siegland Union, along with Free Republic of San Juan and its neighbours.

Perhaps the most peculiar of the landmass is the Sumarland. Purportedly the birthplace of the Sumarians, the contient is very unique as it is not attached to the Westland tectonic plate, in short: floating on the ocean. As for the continent itself, the geographical features are still mostly studied by the planetary scholars, in which the center of the floating continent rumoured to be a portal that leads to the greater Sumarian Worldsphere, the resting place of the race, their original homeworld, the throne of the Allmother Sumara Herself.

Political Information[]

Currently the planet is suffering a global-scale war between Mazenovich Empires and its sister state, Eastern Mazenovich Empire, against major political states in the Eastland and Midland. As noted above, the official reasoning of their assaults on global scale is 'to prevent their energy, resource, population and resource crises', but fringe theorists across the civilized galaxy suggested far more sinister reasons for their 'global conquest'.

Over the time many major states collapsed, either due to the rampant invasions and their economical meltdowns, like the rump state of Siegland Union, or by their own incompetence and mishandling of the insurgency crisis, like the Alexandrian Kingdom, whic the Empire quickly swoop over and established their vassal state from. As how they are even able to invade the Republic of Mechvaraa themselves can be attributed to their 'bogeyman' methods; in which the Empire orchestrated fake invasion on the Reps' Eastern shores via cracked database gathered from a Reps' downed satellite, then subsequently along with the Eastern Empire, walked through the Midland and initiated the proper invasion. The unpreparedness of parties in the Midland and Ostland led to morale panics and massive unrest that led to the Reps to evacuate a fraction of their civilians into their three assigned colonies in the deep space.

Societal Information[]

As for the society of the Mez across the globe, of course they have different cultures within each others. Technological-wise the Mez have bizzare combinations Earth's 20th century phase and 21th century techs, in short, cassete futurism abound, with the societal phase clocked in at late 80s to late 90s. As for the Sumarians themselves however, their techs are more or less same with their neighbouring race, but societally they're pretty advanced, clocking in at early 2000 to late 2010s in societal advancements.

There are many beliefs held by the mez and the sums, the most prominets are Cathericism Faith, Isamicanian Belief, Sumarism and more, including various animistic, dynamistic and ancestral beliefs. The Earth's faiths have become more popular along the colonists, due to their interests in the alien races they meet and share cultures with.

Mez society used to be matriarchal, and changed into gender-equal society around the early 1900s of their dating system. Even then, the women of mez are tend to be more respected due to the everlasting influences of their matriarchal cultures.

Mezvaraan nomenclature, disregarding the cultures, can be considered unusual by humans. It follows such pattern: Common-sounding First Name - Unusual-sounding Middle and Last Name. These are even more prominent for the colonist mez that taken 'alien' (human) names, resulting the most mundane names like Roger Smith (Real name: Roger Shkarm) among other things.
